- Chapter 33, Verse 41

- Chapter 3, Verses 32-3

- Chapter 9, Verse 128
"We know well that what they say grieves thee sorely; for they charge not thee with falsehood, but it is the Signs of Allah that the evil-doers reject. Messengers before thee were also rejected and they continued steadfast, despite rejection and persecution, until Our help came to them."
- Chapter 6, Verse 34-5
[on the emigration to Medina:]
"Go forth without equipment, and strive in the cause of Allah with your belongings and your persons. That is the better for you, if only you know. They would certainly have followed thee if they had seen an immediate advantage and the journey had been short, but the hard journey appeared too long for them. On your return they will swear by Allah: Had we been able we would surely have gone forth with you. They ruin their souls; Allah knows they are liars."
- Chapter 9, Verses 40-2
[on the return to Mecca:]
"He Who has made the teaching of the Qur'an obligatory on thee, will most surely bring thee back to the place of resort."

- Chapter 7, Verse 159
