Topic: Soccer Golf

Learning Outcomes:  Be able to play develop understanding of golf rules, etiquette and scoring through playing soccer golf

Equipment: Soccer balls for every student, 9 hole soccer golf course

Introductory Activities/Warm-Up

  •  British Bulldog Soccer Style

    • Maintain Possession of soccer ball

    • Bulldogs try and knock ball out of area

    • If ball is knocked out you become a Bulldog

 

 

  • The students will get use to kicking a soccer ball, which they will be using when they play soccer golf

  • The Game will start with 3 bulldogs and everyone on one side of an area with a soccer ball

  • We will play this game a couple of times

Skill Development-Concept

  • Demonstration of playing a Soccer golf hole

    • Explanation of different parts of golf etiquette

    • Explanation of golf scoring

     

  •  Students can play 9(maybe less, time permitting) holes of soccer golf and keep score, and trying to play with proper etiquette

 

 

 

  • Teacher will have the course set up before class

  • Introduction of Golf Etiquette

    • Who kicks first

    • Proper behavior while someone else is kicking

  • Introduction of Golf scoring

    • Terms for scoring (par, bogie, eagle, etc.)

    • What happens if a ball lands in a hazard

Culminating Activity

  • Play a round of Soccer Golf

    • Shot-gun start

    • Fewest kicks as possible to hit cone (hole)

    • Penalty strokes for students who are not following proper etiquette

 

 

 

 

 

  •  Students will play a round of golf in partners using the Reciprocal task sheet for Golf Etiquette and rules

    • Students can use reciprocal sheet to assess penalty strokes

  • Shot-gun start

    • Students will play in foursomes and each group will start on a hole, and finish the round when they get back to the hole they started on

  • Teacher will circulate and answer any questions

Closure

  • How did students scores on second 9 compare to first 9 when they were assessed penalty strokes for poor etiquette

  • Ask students question about etiquette and rules of golf and how well the rounds went

 

  •  At the end of the round, the students can indicate how well each other followed the rules and etiquette of golf
