Assessment

As this unit intends to promote golf as an addition to an active living lifestyle, we will take away the heavy influence of skill grading and weigh more on participation and effort. Also, because the rules and regulations of the sport are very important, we will set apart 20% of the grade for a unit test.

~ Participation: 50%

    - The students will each receive a mark out of 5 at the end of each class. To receive a full 5 out of 5 they must:

    a) Attend Class

    b) Be wearing proper attire (golf shirt & shoes etc. for course days, etc.)

    c) Participate in all activities and tasks

    d) Appropriately handle the equipment (i.e.: not hitting pine cones and rocks with the clubs etc.)

~ Effort and Enthusiasm Mark: 30% (Affective and Psychomotor Domain)

    - As golf can be known as a very challenging and often frustrating sport, students will receive 30% of their grade from effort, positive attitude, cooperation, and enthusiasm. We want to emphasize the value of responsible (affective/social) behavior in the sport.

    - The effort and enthusiasm that the students put forth will also effect their skill grading. Some days, the teacher will observe the students effort as they attempt a specific skill. On other days the students will work in the social domain by peer evaluating. Reciprocal Task Cards can be used, as well as other evaluation forms and verbalizations.

~Unit Test on Rules and Regulations: 20% (Cognitive Domain)
