ASSESSMENT
Assesment of the wrestling unit will be done as follows:

Student Evaluation:

1. Psychomotor Evaluation (30% of unit assessment)

  • Six major psychomotor skills(5%for each skill) will be selected at random (out of a hat) for the student to perform.
  • The student will be expected to perform and explain the key points of each individual skill with a partner providing passive resistance.
  • For example, if asked to perform the 1/2 Nelson, for full marks students should perform the skill by 1-reaching across face and sinking armpit into neck, 2-being at an right angle to the opponent, 3-have legs spread knees off the mat, 4-use chest to chest pressure, and 5-have free hand through the crotch and up the back.

2. Cognitive Evaluation (30% of unit assessment)

  • Written test designed to indicate studen'ts knowledge of the basic rules and concepts of wrestling.
  • Test will consist of 15 True or False questions and 15 multiple choice questions. Each question is worth 1 mark.

Sample Questions include:

  1. T/F A full nelson is an illegal hold
  2. T/F A wrestler will be awarded a win if he pins his opponent even if he is behind on points.
  3. T/F An illegal hold may result in a point for the opponent.
  4. When the bottom wrestler moves and gains control of the top wrestler it is called a: A) takedown B) pin C) reversal D) decision
  5. Defeating your opponent by scoring the most points during the match is called: A) pinning B) tilting C) decisioning D) bridging

3. Participation (40% of unit assessment)

  • A simple break down of the students participation in the class will occurr. The 40% will be broken down into three categories:
  • 20% of the mark will be based on attitude, active participation, sportsmanship, cooperation and leadership.
  • 10% of the mark will be based on attendance to class. Maximum non excused absence is two classes. Students will receive an incomplete mark for the unit if absences exceed this number.
  • 10% mark for attending all classes with appropriate attire. (easy motivation mark)
