CONTENT ANALYSIS
Content will be broken down progressively for tactical understanding and skill development (Hopper, 1998).  The relationship will be basic skill to play, then from game play to skill development and back to more challenging game play (Thorpe and Bunker, 1989).  Skills will be broken down into off-the-ball movements and on-the-ball skills (Griffin, Mitchell & Oslin, 1997).

OFFENSE

How to maintain possession of the ball
Keep possession by making short easy passes.  Do not throw the ball away when under pressure.  Run with the ball to an open space.  Catch the ball when it is passed to you.

Be in a good supportive position.  Create passing lanes for the ball carrier.

How to invade the oppositions territory   to score
RUN STRAIGHT with the ball.  Keep running until defense applies pressure. Pass to open team-mates when under pressure.
Run into vacant spaces to get open for passes.  Create gaps for team-mates by switching directions and moving the defender away.

How to create space for your team

Carry the ball one direction and pass in the direction you just came from.  Move the defender to create gaps for your team-mates.  Side-step/evade the defender or draw the defender and then pass.

Support the ball carrier by coming from depth.  Run into space created by the ball carrier with varying angles.  Move your defender to create space for another supporting player.

How to utilize created space

Run in open space until defender takes it away.  Recognize where space is:  ie) overlaps/holes in the defense.

Move into vacant space when receiving passes.  STAY in DEEP space when supporting the ball carrier.
DEFENSE

Defending as an individual Two hand tag below the waist to simulate a tag .  Yell out "TAG".
Stay between your opponent and your goal line.  Do not get "behind the ball".  Keep your head up and watch for changes in direction of the runner.  Do not "shoot-up"...stay in line with your team-mates.

Defending as a team
Two hand tag to simulate a tag.  Yell out "TAG".  Communicate with team-mates to determine who has the ball carrier.

Stay in a flat line to eliminate holes in your defense.  Communicate with each other to ensure this flat line remains.
