Scope
- Four lesson unit to introduce the rules and concepts of the game
of ultimate to grade 8 students, with a greater emphasize on tactical awareness.
Entry ability
- Ability to throw and catch an object (i.e. bean bag).
- Basic ability to catch a frisbee.
- Limited ability to throw a backhand pass.
- Ability to throw a disc with limited accuracy.
- Limited apprecitation of use of space.
- Limited useage of on and off-the-object movements.
- Limited knowledge on the rules of ultimate.
Exit ability
On-the-disc skills:
Throwing abilities -making accurate backhand passes
-pivoting
and faking out the marker
-throwing to the open player
-making the most high percentage passes
Catching abilities -using pancake catching method (two hands)
-reading the speed and force of the disc
-coming towards the disc (not stopping and waiting
for disc to reach them)
Off-the-disc skills:
Creating open space -ability to move to the open passing
lane to receive the disc
-understanding to clear out of passing lane if no passing
option presents its self.
Offense/defense -defense
sticking with their check/offense faking and losing their check
