Organizational
Strategies
1) Equipment:
All equipment used should be laid
out and organized before class and any cones for drills should be placed
in their desired positions. Students will have easy access to all equipment
this way and it ensures that they gather it all in an orderly manner. Students
are not to touch any of the equipment unless desired to do so.
2) Teaching
Space:
The
field can be divided into many grids for drills or games. Gym can be separated
to do many drills or one large game. Having two or more smaller games in
the gym would result in an overcrowding of students in one area and some
participants will not touch the ball. The field is better as it is much
larger and can accomodate many games or drills.
3) Teacher Positioning:
The
teacher should start with an authoritative position in the class where he
can view all students and make sure that they are all paying attention.
During drills, the teacher should walk around and always give out feedback
to develop the drills even more. The instructor should be the one to demonstrate
skills and should have all students paying attention when he does so.
4) Organizational tricks:
The
teacher should be the one to make the groups of students as to not exclude
anyone. he should designate one student to find an area to do the drill,
one to get a pinnie, one to get a ball, and one to set up the cones. By giving
all the students a job, they then 'OWN' the drill and
would be more inclined to practice it more proficiently. By the end of class,
each grouping should have one student who is responsible for cleaning up
the drill, whether that be picking up the cones or returning pinnies, so
that the teacher doesn't have to and can focus on dismissing the class.
