All equipment, (balls, pines, pylons,
etc.) are kept in a centralized location. Control of equipment is time
effective and maintains a safe play area.
Equipment not being used must remain
in a secure location. (i.e. basket, hula hoop, ball net, etc.)
Students are required to bring out
equipment and put away equipment before and after class.
Teacher assigns partners during
lesson to efficiently distribute equipment. (i.e. Partner one gets a ball,
while partner two finds an open area to play)
Teaching Space:
Use as much space as possible both
in the gym or on the field. Make sure teacher still has control over the
entire play area.
Use grid patterns to help designate
where to play. Grid use can simplify or extend activities in a safe and
organized manner.
Time:
Have grid patterns set up prior
to class time if possible.
Take attendance while the students
are worming- up.
Teacher might have some predetermined
routines that occur every class, such as a student led warm-up. (This can
reduce the amount of talk time and increase student engagement)
While class is practicing one drill
use some students to practice next drill, and then use those students as
the demo for the rest of the class. This is an efficient way to move from
one skill to another.
