Managerial Routines

Description
Purpose
Students get a ball and shoot before structured lesson starts  This allows students to expend some of their excess energy prior to the start of the lesson.  Also, students will have a chance to practice the things that they learnt from the last days lesson.  The teacher can monitor the free time and offer help to those students who wish to improve certain aspects of their game play.
1 vs 1 co-operative lay-ups The offensive person has someone to give them feedback about the proper footwork .  The defensive person must understand the proper lay-up technique.  This involves both participants in the learning process.  The offensive player also gets experience in taking the ball to the hoop with some mild resistance.
Number the students in a group and give each number a specific task This will maximize the time on task by involving all students in the organization of the task.  This also increases the student responsibility in class.
Have students choose a partner then find a different partner Students will then have to work with people other than those they normally work with.  This causes the students to socialize with more people in the class.
Involve students in feedback process This increases the students responsibility to learn the skill and makes the class less dependent on the teacher.  It also offers more immediate feedback to the students from a different perspective.
