Some people may ask, why are off-the-ball movements taught? It is imperative that students become proficient at the off-the-ball movements because they are what puts the player into the position where he/she can execute their skills. If they get into position to execute the skill, they will the have the opportunity to learn and develop those skills.Performing these skills in a game situation makes the game not only more exciting, but also more sense. Thus, if a player does not understand or perform the appropriate off-the-ball movements, he/she will never understand the relevancy in developing these skills. So the learning of skills for these people is pointless and uninteresting. They will be unsuccessful in the activity and the result is a negative experience.
