Managerial Routines

1) Equipment: 1 soccer ball per group (17 soccer balls), 17 pinnies, 28 hats. All of the equipment will be carried onto the field prior to class. Students will grab equipment just before the activity begins.  This ensures they are not messing around with equipment when they should be listening for instructions.

2) Procedures: Attendance is taken and announcements are made inside the locker room. Everyone move together  out to the field and  the warm-up is described.

3) Groupings: Prior to warm-up, students are grouped into partners. Line up tallest to shortest and  every second person gets a pinnie, partners are at either end of the line up. By grouping the class this way, it ensures that people are partners with someone they probably would not choose normally. This method enriches the social atmosphere of the class. By assigning every second person a pinnie, it causes the physical size of players on the teams to be mixed. This will help to assure that the teams are relatively evenly matched.

4) Classroom rules: Be on time. Be prepared (with strip).  Participate to best of ability.  Respect others in the class.

5) Students with no strip: Loss of participation marks. Must help with field preparation (pick up garbage). They can also help distribute and set up equipment.  assisting in the clean-up and  putting away of the equipment can also be one of their duties. Lastly, they can  perform peer assessments on their classmates and provide them with feedback.
