BLOCK PLAN - Four lesson 

Minor Games unit

The block plan is an outline of a potential progression for the unit.  Depending on the response of students this progression could be adapted.

Lesson 1  Tactical Problem
Soccer - Maintaining Possession of  the Ball

Lesson focus: Off Ball Movement and Creating Angles

Skill objective:  Basic Side Foot Passing and Trapping.

Introductory task/game

Amoeba Tag - a variation on the theme.

Skill/Concept development tasks/games

  1. 3 vs. 0 Grid Work (with coach) - Standard Grid Work that emphasizes off-the-ball movement.

    2.   3 vs. 1 - Grid Work as before, but under pressure.

Culminating Game:  

4 Sided Soccer - mini soccer games that can go any way!

  Lesson 2  Tactical Problem
  End Ball - Moving to Space and Attacking

Lesson focus: Attacking an end line by using the whole space.
Skill objective: spacing between players to attack

  Lesson 4:  Tactical Problem
How to develop concept of creating space by passing and moving effectively.


Skill objective: to pass to team-mates effectively by either passing with feet or by throwing  

Introductory task/game

1. 3 vs.0 - grid format - moving to open space

2. 3 vs. 1 - grid format - moving to open space while eluding a defender

Skill/Concept development tasks/games

3 vs. 3 - grid format creating and moving to space using angle passing
 
 

Culminating Game: 
Speedball
