The block plan is an outline of a potential progression for the unit.

Skill objective: ready position, arms out, knees bent, reacting to the ball

    • - One bounce allowed 
      - Stay inside square 
      - Bounce at head height 

Culminating Game 

  • Monarch of the court
    • - play square game to compete
      - play for 3 minutes
      - then rotate to complete with new player 
Lesson 2
Tactical Problem
 
Positioning and Forearm Pass
Lesson focus: getting into open space and being ready to receive ball 
Skill objective: ready position, forearm pass: arms out and flat like a table, power from the legs

Forearm Pass and Accuracy
Lesson focus: being ready to receive the ball and body positioning toward target 
Skill objective: ready position, forearm pass: belly button to target 

Introductory task/game

 
  • Square game with Forearm Pass
  • - make partner move
    - try for continuous passing
    - play to compete

Skill/Concept development tasks/games

 

Culminating Game

  • 3 vs. 3
    • - Play over a space
      - toss to start game
      - use only forearm pass
      - Aim for continuous play ( 5 + passes) 
      - Play to compete
Lesson 4
Tactical Problem
 
Forearm Pass and Overhead Pass
Lesson focus: choosing appropriate pass, moving to space and ready to receive the ball 
Skill objective: ready position, forearm pass, overhead pass: hands above forehead, contact with pads of fingers and power from the legs 

Introductory task/game

 
  • 3 vs. 3
  • - Play over space
    - use forearm and overhead passes
    - toss to start game

Skill/Concept development tasks/games

 
  • Triangle Formation 
  • Rally in Three's 
  • - in square students try to keep ball in continous play
    - students can use the forearm or overhead passes
    - Students can keep score for number of completed passes in a row

Culminating Game 

  • 3 vs. 3
    • - Play to win 
      - Using forearm and overhead pass 
      - Over space
