Organizational Strategies

 - The gym is divided into squares using cones and lines that already exist on the floor (See diagram 1)

Diagram 1 The cone setup for the lessons

- Students were instructed to divide into groups after tasks/games were explained and told yo number themselves according to the number of people in the group; each number was then given instructions.  For example:  in pairs, number yourselfs 1 and 2; number 1's get the ball and number 2's find a space.

- Equipment was handed out after task/games were explained

- Equipment was kept in bins until it was needed during the class

- Equipment was also put away when not being used

- During the different tasks/games a variety of balls were offered.  For lesson 1, balls that were big and bouncy were used to help students become familiar with handling a ball and as students improved smaller balls were introduced and then finally the volleyball was introduced into the tasks.  Some students found the larger, bouncier ball too easy and therefore were given a more appropriate ball for the skill level.  For students that were having troubles seeing the ball, there was a ball offered that made noises and a ball that was very soft and slow moving, which could allow the students to participate in the class activities
