Managerial Routines
Facility
-
Please be respectful of the Tennis Bubble Dome, as it is owned by Oak Bay
Community Recreation, and it is a privilege to have the use of it.
Oak Bay Rec was kind enough to donate this time for our use.
Procedures of Entry/Exit of the Facility
-
Please arrive promptly to class, students were given 5 minutes after bell
to arrive to the bubble.
-
Wait for instructions in the bubble foyer.
-
Dismissal shall be 7 minutes before the bell.
-
Once changed, students shall wait with teacher in the hallway until the
bell that sounds the end of class has rung.
Equipment
-
Racquets will be supplied, although it is recommended that the students
bring their own, as the number of available racquets is limited.
-
Be responsible for your and your partner's ball only. (i.e. Do not
chase after someone else's ball.)
-
No horse play involving the nets.
-
Equipment used every session shall be returned to its original place at
the end of class.
Groupings of the class
-
For skill progressions involving partnership, students were allowed to
pick their own partners.
-
If a partnership was not behaving appropriately together, it was established
that they would be split up and mixed into other groups.
-
Partnerships were switched regularly so as to provide the opportunity to
work with several different people.
-
If a group of three was necessary, the group was instructed of how to modify
the activity to incorporate everyone.
-
When playing Queen's Court, the students were in groups of six or seven,
one group at each of the four tennis courts.
-
These groups of six or seven were mixed up regularly to allow students
to face new opponents.
Rules
-
Rules for various skill progressions, warm up, and culminating activities
were given to students when they were gathered around the teacher.
-
Students who chose not to follow the rules, would be warned about the behavior,
and if it were to persist, would be asked to sit out for a while.
