Prescribed Learning Outcomes for Grade 6 PE 

It is expected that students will:

Active Living

Knowledge

A1 relate personal physical and emotional health benefits to regular participation in physical activity (e.g.,

energy, endurance, stress management, fresh air and sunshine when activities are done outside)

A2 relate the development of muscular strength and endurance, cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility

to participation in specific physical activities

A3 analyse nutritional considerations for physical activity

A4 monitor own exertion while participating in physical activity (e.g., manual or electronic heart rate

monitoring)

A5 set personal goals for attaining and maintaining a physically active lifestyle

Participation

A6 participate daily (e.g., five times a week) in a variety of moderate to vigorous physical activities that

develop muscular strength and endurance, cardiovascular endurance, and/or flexibility


Movement skIlls

B1 practise learned non-locomotor, locomotor, and manipulative movement skills in order to improve

B2 demonstrate offensive and defensive strategies in a variety of activity categories

B3 demonstrate the proper technique to send and receive an object with or without an implement in

predictable settings (e.g., kick a soccer ball against a wall, strike a tennis ball with a racquet, chest pass

a basketball to a partner, throw a flying disk to a team-mate)

B4 apply a combination of learned skills to create original sequences, drills, challenges, or games


Safety, Fair play, Leadership

C1 demonstrate safe procedures for specific physical activities (e.g., wearing safe attire for the activity,

safe use of equipment and facilities, participating in warmup and cooldown appropriate to the

activity)

C2 model fair play when participating in physical activity

C3 demonstrate leadership in respecting individual differences and abilities during physical activity

Tactical Problem



Defense(to prevent scoring and start/restart play)

SPACE- Where a player should go in an area of play based on placement of object
TIME- When to reduce a opponents time

RISK- In relation to your opponents and your abilities how to use space, force and time factors

RISK- In relation to the situation in the game decide how to utilize space and time factors



Offense (Scoring and start/restart play)

SPACE- Where the ball should be placed in the area of play based on teammates positioning

TIME- Decide when to execute a skill in a game

TIME- create time to play a shot

FORCE- decide how to and how much force to apply to ball (changing ball height, direction and distance)

RISK- in relation to your own abilities, your opponents abilities and situation of the game how to use space, force and time.

Off-the ball movements


-low/ ready body positioning (good base)

-awareness of opponents abilities compared to your own

-awareness of teammates positioning and ability to support

-awareness of where ball is in relation to you and your opponent








-cutting into a good space to receive a pass or shoot

-changing angles and leading/re-leading

-ready position to receive or onetime ball (good base)

On-the-ball skills



-low defensive stance (good base)

-right body positioning in relation to goal and most dangerous passing option

-choosing safest time to commit to a defensive tackle depending on support

-close time and space on opponent to increase chances of stealing ball

-choosing correct passing/shot placement based on opponents abilities

- choosing correct pass/shot selection (sweep, hit, flick, punch, aerial)
