Game Making with Wall outline

Tactical Problem:  Keep the ball going and keep the ball going longer than partner
Skill development: Side-steping.  Preparing behind bounce of ball.  Basic forehand stroke.  Under-arm serve.

Teaching Points
Tactic 
  • Hit high for time
  • Relocate opposite side of target
  • Look for where the ball will land
  • Skill 

  • Use comfortable grip - Eastern forehand
  • Hit the ball as it falls after bounce
  • Racket back before ball bounces
  • Shift weight from back foot to front as hit
  • Recover front facing
  • Backhand with grip change for advanced players

    Organizational Points
    Initially, players should play individually throwing and striking the ball against the wall.  When players are able to keep the ball going then work in pairs.
  • Bouncy balls of  med. to small size
  • Pair up students, numer one and two:

  •     One get ball and cone, two find 2m space on wall 
  • Rule 1 "Ball must bounce once"
  • Rule 2 "Ball must be hit up"
  • For defined area game ball must bounce in area.
