SKILL:  Handstand to forward roll

 

Teaching Points to note as trying the task:

1.              BASE – Arms shoulder width apart

2.              HEAD goes down between STRAIGHT ARMS

3.              KICK UP – HIPS ABOVE the HEAD

4.              WEIGHT OVER HANDS

5.              ARMS STRAIGHT, LEGS EXTENDED

6.              HEAD slightly look back, PUSH from the shoulders

7.              OVER balance SLIGHTLY BENDING the ARMS, then

8.              TUCK HEAD TO CHIN, KNEES TO CHEST as BACK IS ROUNDED

9.              In TUCKED position roll to STANDING and HOLD.

HEADSTAND RECIPROCAL TASK CARD

1. Start with head and hands in triangle shape base, hips over base.

2. Walk onto elbows with hips over base. To monkey stand. Walk legs back down again.


3. With triangle base walk hips up over base.


4. Lift legs bending knees if unable to lift.


5. Extend legs with weight over base, hips level with head


6. Lean legs back to feel weight distributed between head and hands.

7. When balanced extend legs into a split leg position
