Lesson 2: Movement to Open Space/Support

 


Learning Outcomes:

Cognitive: Understand thought process of movement, space and support – why we do it?  Psychomotor: understanding why we use space and movement and support and how to execute skills to do this. 

Affective:  build self esteem by learning new skills

Introductory Activities: 4 goal mini game

2 games, 30x30 grid, 4 goals, FIFA rules

*low organization


Skill Development/Concept: 4 corners

Keep away from defender by moving into space, passing accurately and controlling the ball.

Rule 1: 5 successful passes change defender.

Rule 2: Switch defender after interception, bad pass or ball out of bounds. Progressions: Size of grid, number of touches allowed.

Transition from 4 corners (4 players) into width end-ball by calling in students. Have them find a partner, number selves 1 and 2. 1’s vs. 2’s.
















Culminating Activity: Width End-ball

1 games, 5v5 (2 in width position), width player’s can’t score, Must pass ball outside before able to score, must be inside half in order to score, 4 goals, end zone.

Aim: Score by shooting ball along ground into goal

Rules: Allowed to dribble, but only into space (cannot score form dribble), no person allowed in end zone, side line players pass ball to team that passes to them, outside players cannot be tackled.

Additions: swap outside player with each goal or every 1 min, restart game by giving possession defending team ball and scoring team must run back and touch own goal line (allows breakout)

Progressions: 5 passes for point, 5 passes before you can score. Must use both outside players before can score.

Ask students to put away equipment and bring it in

Asking students questions about why we create space?  What creating space does?  What happens if you do not support your teammate?
