Learning Outcomes:
Cognitive: Understand thought process of attacking and defending - why and how we do it.
Psychomotor: Understanding how we attack and defend simultaneously as a team and individual
Affective: Leadership roles for more talented players, self esteem builder, multiple aspects of the game, encouragement, team and individual goal setting
Social: Team bonding, unity, classroom cooperation, supporting peers and teachers.
Introductory Activity: Endball
Objective of the game: To score on the opponents end line by passing (throwing) the soccer ball over the end line.
Rules:
1.The ball carrier can not move. Only 3 steps to stop forward momentum are permitted.
2.The ball carrier has three second to pass the ball or else it is considered a turnover.
3.Defenders can not touch the ball carrier. Defense is similar to basketball (law of verticality).
4.After a goal, all attackers must touch own goal line. Allowing an easier breakout for the defenders now attacking.
Skill Development: 5v5 Assigned Check Soccer
Objective: To score goals on your opponent by stopping the ball under control on the opponents end line.
Rules:
1.Once assigned your check, that person may only check you and you can only check them.
2.To score a goal, you must stop the ball on your opponents end line.
3.All traditional soccer rules apply.
Culminating Activity: Mini- Soccer (3v3 or 4v4)
Three vs. Three Soccer
Rules:
1) Small sided soccer in a grid.
2) All traditional soccer rules apply.
Adaptations: modifying teams, number of passes before able to score, number of touches allowed.
