Realignment Drill
In groups of 3 students will be lined up six to eight feet apart from one another. Students will jog up the field passing back and forth. The player with the ball must accelerate past their partner following the reception of the ball. The player without the ball must align themselves in a position to accelerate onto the ball.
Cues:
•Hold the ball to your body after receiving it.
•When accelerating have a firm grip on the ball and ensure the ball is protected against your body.
•Make sure that your partner is behind you when you pass them the ball.
Rules:
1)Students must use the rugby pass
2)Last person simulates being touched, then student realign for a new attack
3)If ball is dropped player pick up the ball and restart the attack
Refinement:
•Move the players closer together.
Progressions:
•Move the players further apart.
•Join another group of 2- pass down the line person at the front peels off each time and joins the end.
