Underhand Spin Pass

Underhand Spin Pass - Partners

Students will begin with the ball beside their hip in an athletic position with their chest pointed at roughly a 45 degree angle away from their partner

One hand (the same one as the side the ball is on) will be located near the back of the ball slightly off to the side (power hand)

The back hand will be slightly cocked down and back, this will allow for a spinning motion later on

The opposite hand will be slightly in front of the middle of the ball (guide hand)

Students will direct their back arm towards their partners chest

As they are in the process of releasing the ball the back hand will cock forward to generate a spin on the ball

Students will begin by passing to a stagnant partner

After students feel confident partners can move throughout the grid

Two groups will be in the grids so students must be aware of one another

  2.    Student A begins running down the field and diagonally cuts across in front of Student B

  3.    Student B begins running down the field and diagonally cuts behind Student A

  4.    Student A passes to Student B as Student B is moving past Student A

  5.    This movement draws defenders together with the hope of creating additional space for Student B to move up field after receiving the ball
