Content Analysis for a Chest Pass
Wind-up phase
In this phase the ball is absorbed through the fingers into the chest with the player keeping both knees and elbows bent. The player can then adjust for the direction and force they wish to place on the ball.
Force phase
In this phase the player pushes their arms out forward in front of their body. That momentum is transfered to from the player to the ball as the player takes a step forward with his/her dominant foot.
Recovery Phase
In this last phase the player has released the ball and returns to the ready position discussed in the preparatory phase.
Preparatory phase
In this phase the student is in ready position. The players knees are bent with a wide base of support and arms bent in front of the player’s body. This provides a target for the other player to pass to. When the ball is passed the player absorbs the ball into their chest and fingertips.
