Lane Way Defense
Lane Way Defense
Purpose: Develop basic defensive skills in lacrosse, which will contribute to helping prevent opponents from attacking.
Rules:
1)Split students into partner.
2)Each students will have a stick and one ball between each pairs.
3)Small lane ways will be set up. They should be approximately 3-5 metres wide and long.
4)The player with the all will attempt to make it from the start of the lane way to the end within seconds.
5)The other player is the defender, who will attempt to block the attacking player from making it past by using good body position and footwork.
6)If the attack steps out of bounds or takes over 5 seconds the defender wins.
7)Absolutely no body or stick contact
8)Stick must be vertical and 1 metre away from attacking player
Modifications:
- Change the size of the lanes.
- Can have a 2 vs 1 or 3 vs 2. Thus they are allowed to pass it to each other, but lane will have to be substantially bigger.
- Can do the drill without lacrosse equipment first, so students understand the concepts of defense first.
