ASSESSMENT
OVERVIEW:
The assessment of this unit will be done using de Leeuw and Derby’s 2005 Assessment Guide, as well as GPAI system. The teacher will assess each student a score of five for each day, based on the criterial below. In addition, at the end of each week, the students will fill out a self assessment form and judge their own abilities to the criteria on the sheet (seen below).
TEACHER’S DAILY ASSESSMENT OF STUDENTS
0/5 - Did not attend class (no doctor's note or injury)
1/5 - Student disrupted the class, showed poor participation, endangered the safety of the class or
themselves
2/5 - Student displays a lack of enthusiasm, minimal participation, causes some
disruption during the class
3/5 - Student demonstrates average participation, enthusiasm level, does not disrupt the class
4/5 - Student demonstrates good participation, their enthusiasm level is good and they do not disrupt
the class
5/5 - Student demonstrates excellent participation, they are very enthusiastic about the drills/games,
cooperate with the teacher and class, help with equipment set up, put away
WEEKLY STUDENT SELF-EVALUATION
1/4 - General sense of the course content. Description of actions general and with some evidence that the player understands each component.
2/4 - Good concept of course focus shown. Player’s ability and concepts indicate an understanding of how the component contributes to the player’s game play.
3/4 - Very good sense of how the course develops tactical concepts to support skill execution.
Player understands how each component is necessary to either winning or losing the point. Player’s analysis of the component indicates an understanding of how each component connects to each other and explains the players game performance in relation to an opponent.
4/4 -Excellent sense of how tactical play and skill execution are taught in the class with evidence of how to apply ideas to own game play. The player’s analysis indicates how each component contributes to their game performance with examples of specific points in the game. Based on reading the play of the opponent the player offers insights into how he or she could play to challenge his/her opponent more.
