DESCRIPTION OF GAME


Aim:

Tosser - To score a point by tossing the bean bag onto one of the scoring spots

Catcher - To score a point by catching the bean bag 4 times in a row


Structure: The spots are set up in a diamond shape, with a tosser on the top spot and a catcher on the bottom spot, two scoring spots are put on either side of the catcher



Rules:

  1. 1.Tosser has to throw underhand

  2. 2.Tosser hits the spot, 1 point; catcher catches 4 in a row, 1 point.

  3. 3. If tosser misses the spot and/or catcher does not catch the beanbag, no points are awarded


Key tactical and skill application:

  1. -If catcher gets 8 in a row and 2 points, move the spots out 1 m. to make game more difficult

  2. -If the tosser wins 2 points, move the spots in to make it easier for the catcher

  3. -Stay low and bend knees, not at waist

  4. -Push off outside foot

  5. -Catch the bean bag with racket hand and step with racket side foot simultaneously (right handed students should step with right foot)

Aim: Same as original


Structure: Scoring spots are placed farther from the catcher, the bean bag is switched for a birdie, and the catcher uses a racket


Rules:

  1. 1.Tosser throws the birdie overhand like a dart

  2. 2.Tosser hits the spot, 1 point; hitter hits 4 in a row back to the tosser, 1 point

  3. 3.If tosser misses the spot and/or hitter does not make contact with the birdie, no points are awarded


Key tactical and skill application:

  1. -Switch to overhand tossing of birdies so that tossers get used to feeding

  2. -Toss with rubber end out and throw like you would a dart

  3. -Hitter should hold the racket at the neck. If successful, move hand down to the handle of the racket

  4. -Step with the same foot as the racket hand when you hit the birdie
