Forehand and Backhand Game
DESCRIPTION OF GAME
Aim: To score a point by hitting the birdie into the hula hoop on the other side of the net
Structure: 1 hitter, 1 tosser, 1 retriever per group. Tosser stands at net on opposite side from the hitter, tosses the birdie at the hitter. Hitter hits them towards the hula hoop, retriever collects them and brings the birdies back to the tosser.
Rules:
1.The hitter must use only the shot type that the game allows (ie: forehand or backhand)
2.The Tosser must toss the birdie to the proper side using the dart-throwing technique
3.The Retriever does not touch the birdie until it has hit the ground, and also keeps the hitters score
Key tactical and skill application:
Forehand
-pull racket back and open hips
-bring racket through, step with opposite foot when contacting the birdie
-watch the birdie hit the racket
- Tips to remember proper technique:
BACK: pull racket back
STEP and SWING: step on contact with the birdie
ACROSS: racket ends across shoulder
Backhand
-pull racket across body and back, close hips
-step and swing through contact point
