More on and off-ball movement drills

Weaving

Activity 1:

Students will work their way up the court (or specified area) in a Three-Person-Weave.

Teaching Cues for Three-Person-Weave:

  1. -Follow your pass, after passing the ball run in behind that player.

  2. -Pass out in front of your target (lead them).

  3. -Call for the ball, show a lead hand where you expect the pass.

Activity 2:

After working through the weave towards one end of the floor (basketball hoop), two players will get a shot attempt as other three will weave back to mid-court area.

Teaching Cues:

- Last player will complete a lay-up, while the other two members get a pass along the foul line extended for a shot attempt.

  1. -The player who completed the lay-up will begin weaving back to mid-court along with the two students who made the passes for the shot attempts.

  2. -Communication is very important.

  3. -When setting this drill up, a walk through demo is extremely beneficial.
