Calendar Description:

The purpose of this course is to prepare prospective secondary school teachers to develop understandings and approaches to integrating literacy processes and projects into the subject disciplines. The course will examine multiple literacies and contemporary understandings of texts as they apply to learning across the curriculum.

Course Objectives:
1) To explore a repertoire of classroom practices and strategies that enrich literacy experiences for young adults
2) To provide a theoretically sound foundation for planning literacy experiences across subject areas
3) To extend metacognitive and metalinguistic understandings and the role they play in secondary classrooms
