We are a synthetic chemistry group focused on the supramolecular chemistry
of membranes and transport. We design and make compounds, study their
interactions with one another and with membranes, and spin off
practical applications. These pages are intended to give you a quick
overview of our activities.
Fyles group August 2011 (L-R): Tom, Dr. Jon, Paria, Andrew, Dr. Joanne
We tackle broad problems with a variety of techniques that draw on a wide range of skills. Past and current students have come from very diverse backgrounds: synthesis, biochemistry, engineering, polymer chemistry. While in the group they have worked on a range of problems. Relatively few people do just one aspect; most people combine synthesis with some quantitative work. Every member of the group brings skills and talents to our collective effort and pushes us into new areas.
