Getting to Victoria

Although located on a large, semi-tropical island in the Pacific, Victoria has good connections to major American and Canadian ports of entry. Victoria International Airport is one of the ten busiest airports in Canada, handling more than 60 commercial flights a day. Direct service is available from Vancouver (at least once every hour), Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Seattle and San Francisco. International travellers flying directly to Victoria would usually transfer to Victoria flights at any of these airports.

An airport shuttle bus service is available which will take you directly to the hotel, where you can check into your room. The cost is $21 per person, and run approximately every 30 minutes. Parties of three or more may find it more economical to take a taxi. Fares are approximately $55 plus tip.

Additionally, there is regular float plane and helicopter service to Victoria Harbour from downtown Vancouver and Seattle. Please note there are very strict weight limits for suitcase on these flights. Check with the airlines before booking.

A more scenic approach to Victoria is by ferry. BC Ferries offers hourly sailings from 7:00 to 22:00. A direct bus service is available from either downtown Vancouver or Vancouver International Airport. Average travel time by bus is 3 hours, including a 90 minute ferry trip through some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. The cost of this trip is $40 (Canadian) one way or $78 return. Additional ferry service is available from Seattle (passenger only), Port Angeles, or Anacortes in Washington State.
