Differential Geometry in R3

Hours: 3-0

Curves in the plane and 3-dimensional space, curvature and torsion, Frenet-Serret apparatus, surfaces in 3-dimensional space, Gaussian and mean curvature, Theorema Egregium, Gauss-Bonnet theorem, elements of non-euclidean geometry.

Note:

  • Not open for credit to students with credit in MATH 436 or MATH 467.

Prerequisites:

Undergraduate course in Mathematics offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the Faculty of Science.
