Mechanical Vibration

Units: 1.5

Multi Degree of Freedom systems: equation of motion in matrix form, modal analysis, transfer function, damped and undamped response to arbitrary excitations. Linear continuous systems: transverse vibrations of strings, lateral beam vibrations, axial and torsional vibration of rods. Random vibration; stationary random processes, correlation functions, Fourier analysis, power spectral density, random response of SDOF systems. Vibration measurement and Experimental Modal Analysis. Introduction to non-linear vibrations; approximate analytical solutions, graphical methods, stability of equilibrium states.

Graduate course in the Mechanical Engineering program offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
