Examines political, economic, social and cultural transformations that shaped the Soviet socialist experiment, as well as the causes of its collapse and the difficulties of post-communist transition in Russia and non-Russian republics. Emphasis on social history, gender and everyday life.
- Credit will be granted for only one of HSTR 352, HIST 376, SLAV 376, SLST 362.
- No knowledge of Russian is required prior to taking this course.
