Premodern Japanese Culture

Surveys Japan's cultural past from earliest times to the mid-19^th century. Emphasizes the outstanding developments of each epoch, especially in the areas of literature, drama, philosophy and religion, and the visual arts. No knowledge of Japanese language is required.

Note:

Credit will be granted for only one of PAAS 180, JAPA 201, JAPA 201A.
