Acquisition of Chinese as an Additional Language

Advanced study of the fundamental concepts related to second language acquisition (SLA). Research themes related to the acquisition of Chinese as an additional language. Examines learner language, language learning motivations, language learning strategies and other factors pertinent to SLA and the theory and practice of acquisition of Chinese as an additional language.

Note:

  • Credit will be granted for only one of PAAS 452, PAAS 497 (if taken in the same topic).

Prerequisites:

  • For non-native speakers:
  • One of PAAS 211 with a minimum grade of B, PAAS 318 with a minimum grade of B, CHIN 249B with a minimum grade of B; and
  • Academic Writing Requirement satisfied; or
  • permission of the department.
  • For native speakers:
  • Academic Writing Requirement satisfied.

Undergraduate course in Pacific and Asian Studies offered by the Department of Pacific and Asian Studies in the Faculty of Humanities.
