Introduction to Islamic Philosophy

Islamic philosophy from the 9th - 12th century CE. Topics include a brief introduction to ancient Greek philosophy that was influential on Muslim thinkers and an introduction to the thought of al-Farabi, Ibn Sina (Avicenna), al-Ghazali (Algazel) and Ibn Rushd (Averroes). Their influence on medieval European philosophy will also be discussed.

Undergraduate course in Philosophy offered by the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Humanities.
