Faculty of Fine Arts : Department of Visual Arts
Applicants from secondary schools must complete the usual procedures for admission to the University (see Undergraduate Admission) and select either the Visual Arts Major program or the Combined Major Program in Visual Arts and Computer Science program. Application deadline is February 28. The department further requires that the following materials be submitted directly to the Visual Arts department (deadline March 9) for review by the selection committee:
Transfer applicants from other faculties should complete the usual procedures for re-registration as specified Undergraduate Reregistration. Portfolio and questionnaire submissions are the same for all applicants as described above.
Students must normally complete 37.5 units of Department offerings as specified below. Of the total of 60 units at least 15 units must be approved non-studio electives, including 6 units of AHVS or 4.5 units of AHVS and 1.5 units of ART 151.

The required 6 units of AHVS or 4.5 units of AHVS and 1.5 units of ART 151 may be elected at any time during the four years; however students are strongly advised to complete 3 of those 6 units in their first or second year. It is strongly advised that 3 of the total 6 units be AHVS 362A, AHVS362B, AHVS 368B, AHVS 381B or AHVS 381C.
Students must normally complete 31.5 units of department offerings as specified below. At least 15 units must be approved non-studio electives, including 6 units of AHVS or 4.5 units of AHVS and 1.5 units of ART 151. Of the total 60 units, at least 21 must be chosen from courses numbered 300 or above.
