The Sale of Rentonhall

The debts accumulated by Kenneth McKenzie’s father on their family estate in East-Lothian, Scotland forced the younger McKenzie to put the farm up for sale in 1848.  It finally sold in 1851, allowing Kenneth to pay off the money-owed with little in reserve.
