Medicine in 1860s Victoria

In the 1860s, Victoria had doctors, dentists and pharmacists offering their services and ready to prescribe all manner of medicines. This part of the Victoria's Victoria site explores the practice of medicine in Victoria in the 1860s as revealed by newspaper advertising and by the notebooks of one of Victoria's most famous doctors, Dr. J. S. Helmcken.

There are two ways to browse this part of the site.

You can take a Guided Tour - like paging through a book.

You can go to the Table of Contents and from there jump directly to any page.
