Gabi joined our group as a Ph.D. student in May 2001. She held a M.Sc. in electroanalytical chemistry, obtained in Waterloo under Dr. Susan Mikkelsen's supervision. Gabi's project in our group involved the investigation of the adsorption of sulfur-containing amino acids onto single-crystalline gold surfaces. Gabi used several electrochemical methods to understand the adsorption - desorption behaviour of cysteine on Au(111) and Au(210) surfaces. She also helped implementing the application of polarization modulation FTIR to monitor surface adsorption processes under electrochemical control. Gabi's work has been published in J. Electroanal. Chem. and J. Phys. Chem. She also received an award for the best poster presentation in a ECS meeting and was the recipient of the 2006 Dr. E. and Mrs. M. Von Rudloff Award. Gabi defended her Ph.D. and now work as a postdoc at Dr. David Harrington’s group.
