Casper, the anthropomorphic breathing phantom

Welcome to the website describing Casper, our anthropomorphic breathing phantom. Casper was a project that 4th year MECH 400 undergraduate students worked on during the Spring term of 2022. Josie Laidlaw, Nicolas Earl, Nihal Shavdia, Rayna Davis and Sarah Mayer did an outstanding job with their term project and completed the entire phantom from scratch in less than four months. Thankfully they got help with 3D printing from Dmitri Karaman and with material x-ray imaging from Devon Richtsmeier and Pierre-Antoine Rodesch. Teaghan O'Briain was very helpful with the conversion of XCAT phantom (thank you, Paul Segars!) that Casper is based on and with modeling a real lung tumor. Clay Lindsay was instrumental in CT scanning of the final product. Our amazing Pierre-Antoine co-led the project.

A Casper biography manuscript has been published in BPEX. All files that are relevant for Casper manufacturing can be downloaded here. Let us know if you have any questions. Enjoy!
