**I had a lot of difficulties on my first day in Victoria**. We didn't look for a host family at the beginning because I was living in a rented room with my friend.
[[Getting off the plane]]
[[airport]]We contacted a Chinese pickup in advance, but when we arrived at Victoria airport he didn't arrive and we couldn't get in touch with him. When we were thinking about taking a taxi, he contacted us and told us to wait for a while because he had misremembered the time.
[[Car ride to the apartment]]When we arrived at the apartment, the manager told us that there was *no room* for us.
[[Negotiated with the manager]]My friend and I told the manager that we had spoken to a guy named John in advance. Since our flight was on August 21, we asked before signing the contract if we could check in on the 21st and the guy named John said yes.[[Later]]The manager contacted John and said that there was something about early check-in, but there was no room available for us now. But there was a small two-bedroom room available for us to stay. Later we went to see that small room and found a male roommate who shared the room.
[[Decision]]My friend and I decided to wait until September 1st to move in. We'll find another hotel to stay in during these days. The manager saw so much of our stuff and kindly said that we could take out the stuff we used for these days and the rest of our luggage could be put in his place. For us, this was the only thing that made us happy that day.
[[Find a hotel]]We contacted the Chinese guy again who just asked him to send us somewhere else on his return, he asked us what happened and we told him the truth. He said he had a friend who owned a B&B and could introduce us to his friend to stay there. We thought a B&B would be fine because we were too tired and didn't have dinner at 7pm. On the way to the B&B we asked the guy who picked us up to stop by the supermarket, and my friend and I planned to go to the supermarket to **buy some food to eat**.
[[Arriving at the B&B]]The owner of the B&B was kind enough to help us with our luggage and we told him about our situation. She enthusiastically said that when we had a good rest in the next two days, she would take us around to get familiar with the environment. We felt very happy.
[[Finally]]It was a tiring day for us when we arrived in Victoria, and my friend and I simply packed up and went to bed soon after. But we didn't think it was just the first day of exhaustion.
