Entry/ Exit Outcomes

Entry Outcomes:

We are assuming that because students have "elected" to participate in grade 11 physical education, that they will have a basic to intermediate level of "hand-eye coordination."  As squash is a  rare sport, we understand that the best part of the class will never have had a chance to play the game. We are also assuming that there will be one or two students who have played and we will, if possible, ask them to assist in demonstrations and peer teaching.

Obviously the range of skills in any sport will vary.  Squash, because of its rare nature is very susceptible to this.  We will try to keep the sessions interesting and exciting for all of the students involved.

Exit Outcomes:

By the end of this unit we hope that the students will have progressed enough so that they will be able to enter a squash court and start and finish a game, with supervision.  We hope that they will know the safety considerations and rules of the game.  It is our ultimate goal to make students feel comfortable enough that they could enter a squash club and not feel inadequate or overwhelmed.  An added appreciation for a new and exciting sport is another desirable outcome.
