Managerial Routines
Attendance:

Attendance is mandatory. A student
in the correct gym strip (On ice: track pants and sweat shirt. In the Gym:
proper shoes, shorts, and t-shirt) receives three marks.

A student without proper gym strip loses one mark.
Marks are calculated as part of participation.

Before warmup, students give their names to the
teacher before getting the necessary equipment.(On ice: slides, brooms)

Absentees are required to bring a doctors note
or have parental permission
Equipment:
-
Equipment is in one central location for safety
and for saving time.

To avoid clustering, at the beginning of class,
number the students off. Each number has a different job to do (i.e.
setting up cones, getting criteria sheets, getting equipment)

Once activity is finished, students are responsible
for putting away all equipment
Groupings:
-
Students remain in assigned groups unless
told differently

Teacher encourages different groups for every
different activity. This will increase social interaction among the different
skill levels
Class Rules:

Students have to raise their hands if they have
a question

Students responsible to respect teacher's desires
and to show sportsmanship with classmates.

Gym strip is mandatory. Those who do not have
the required strip can participate as well as they can.

Students must ask for permission to use the washroom.
Must return immediately after use.
Curling Etiquette:
-
Clean your footwear prior to stepping on
the ice
-
Prior to playing your rock, pull the opponent
rock out.

Stay a respectable distance away from a curler
who is in the hack, keep still and quiet.

Keep off the center of the rink while match is
in progress.

Leave the ice free for opposing players and skips.
-
Never cross the ice when as opposing stone is
being played or a player is in the hack,
-
Build team confidence by encouraging teammates!
Student Behavior:

To participate in a mature manner

Respect classmates and teachers

No talking while lesson is being taught

Paying full attention when rules and explanations
are being taught
Dismissal:

Review and reflection period occurs five minutes
before the end of class

Equipment must be returned before class has been
dismissed
Teaching Coordination:
-
Teacher ensures that all the students are in front
of him/her.

Make sure students' backs are turned away from
any distractions (construction, sun, other class).
-
Stand at a right angle, so students can hear all
instructions.

Use of students in demonstrations is encouraged.
