Spacing
|
- use entire gym
- if doing solo drills make sure you are aware of those
around you to avoid injury
- if in pairs, stand on opposite side of net from your partner
- share net space so there is enough room for everyone
- students are instructed to find their own space in the
gym where they would not come into contact with other groups
- at the beginning of the unit, name or number the courts
(ie Fort St James and Bahamas) so students know where to go during tournaments,
no confusion
|
Formations and Groups
|
- pairs, number one and two, ones stay put, twos move one
court to the right to change partners, all ones one the same side of net
- co-ed teams for 2-on-2 games (if co-ed class)
- teacher assigns partners for ladder tournaments
- ladder, you can challenge 2 ahead of you, switch if you
win
|
Behaviour
|
- unsportsmanlike behaviour punished, sitting out of
games
- give constructive comments to all students
- get highly skilled students to help teach
|
Organizing Equipment
|
- bring all equipment out of room if possible, at least
racquets and birdies
- make sure it's all cleaned up before anyone leaves to get
changed
- have 4 hula hoops spread out around the gym for birdies
to be placed when they aren't in use
|
Organizing for Safety
|
- be aware of all those around you
- no swinging racquets around
- all birdies and racquets not being used return to designated
area
- don't walk through courts
- when retrieving birdie from someone else's court, wait
until the game stops
