We believe that physical education
should promote the learning domains as outlined in the BC IRP, as well as
provide an environment where the students feel comfortable regardless of
their ability. Through making our program fun and exciting, we will
be able to encorporate different teaching styles so that those students who
are highly skilled will be able to help those who are not as talented.
Furthermore we feel that physical education should teach students for the
future, outside of school, where they will be able to use the skills that
they have learned in high school to play either at a competitive or a recreational
level. We believe that our unit of badminton will start to realize these beliefs by focusing lessons on the teamwork that is required to make each student reach their goals of being the best they can be. We also feel that these teamwork skills will transfer to other subject areas as well as be useful in future jobs in which a joint effort is required by all. Furthermore, with the skills that we will teach each student, we believe that they will be able to play confidently in their days after high school in a recreational level. This follows the aim of the BC IRP which is to enable all students to enhance their quality of life through active living. |
