The overhead smash is an offensive
shot used to win a point. In order to be effective the smash needs full
and maximum hitting power. |
The objective of this drill
is to practice performing the overhead smash shot. |
Equipment needed for this drill
includes a) badminton racquet for each player b) numerous amounts of birdies c) badminton court and net (not mandatory if space does not allow) |
Activity a) Get into groups of three to each half court b) One of the student should be on one side of the court alone with the birdie c) The single player will set up the one of the other players by hitting a lob serve or under hand toss over the net. The other player who is not hitting will make sure that the following points are followed |
Keys to remember a) Keep you eye on the birdie b) Step with opposite foot as racquet c) Follow through after smash to get more power |
