Net Shot Task Card
Preparatory Position
  • Grip: on the forehand side, be sure the handle is in the base of your fingers – this greatly facilitates your “touch”; on the backhand side, use full backhand grip

Wind-Up Phase
  • Be in a “lunge” position, with and extended racquet arm
  • Racquet should extend naturally from the hand, approximately 45deg from the forearm
  • Racquet face virtually parallel to the floor
  • Racquet foot forward, toe pointing towards the net corner

Force Producing/Contact Phase
  • Hit and land (with racquet foot) at the same time
  •  The stroke is a “cutting underneath action”, where the parallel racquet head displaces the head of the shuttle causing it it tumble end over end.
  • Contact should be made wide of the racquet shoulder on the forehand side, and wide on the non-racquet shoulder on non-racquet side.

Follow Through
  • There is very little follow through in the net shot
