Preparatory Position
- weight equally on both feet after split-step
- racket foot slightly back
- racket above head
- eye on birdie
- non-racquet hand raised
- proper forehand grip

Wind-Up Phase
- transfer weight to back foot
- non-racquet foot facing birdie
- back knee bent more than front foot
- back knee bent more than front
- head up, eye on birdie
- racquet arm back, above head

Force Producing/Contact Phase
- transfer weight from back foot to front foot
- rotate hips first followed by mid-body and then upper body
- bring arm overtop of head contacting birdie slightly infront
of head
- snap the wrist forward during contact of birdie to get
the optimal amount of power from the stroke

Follow Through
- bring racquet arm down across body ending up at opposite
hip
- bring racquet foot forward incase opposing player returns
for drop shot
- stay low and get back into ready position
